Have you noticed how many iconic restaurants are dissapearing or for sale in our metropolis? I noticed a while back that the reported favourite restaurant of Norman ‘Fat Boy’ Cooke , Corriander in Hove was closed but have also seen that The fab Gallery Restaurant has also gone too. But has a new concern in place at least. Am still confused with the ‘To Let’ sign attached to China Garden though.

What really suprised me though was a friend of mine is looking to buy a restaurant and showed me the Medicine Chest (nee Sanctuary) is up for grabs, The Meadow on Palmeira, and Pascalls 2 (nee La Fourchette) are also availiable.

Sign of the times I guess and short sighted, turnover at the expense of profit Deals Sites.

Boo,

For those of you that don’t know, a fantastic new Restaurant/Bar has opened in Hove recently. Seen by some as the sleepy cousin of Brighton this stylish and upmarket Venue seems to have made an instant impact. I walked past the other night, taxis were pulling up outside with very fashionable couples getting out. A Lamborghini and 2 Aston Martins were parked outside and whilst not a warm night, the outside area, complete with pretend grass was buzzing. It looks absolutely beautiful from the outside but definately feel over the summer months my cut downs and flip flops might need upgrading befor popping in for a sundowner !

I have been eagerly awaiting the opening of this new music bar on Church Road , opp Tescos, I thought it was just what the area needed. The previous incarnation of the card school didnt last long but despite a new sign and painted front door I now see the premises are up for rent again. How mysterious? Did it ever actually open ? Did anyone go there ? With The Babylon Lounge now closed and re-opened last weekend as The View (looks amazing in the photos btw) where does one go for some late night music in Hove ? Brighton probably.

Is it me or is there a lot happening in Brightons affluent suberb at the moment ? I was sitting in the reception of Toothsmart along Portland Road on Wednesday and noticed in a magazine that Havana are opening somewhere soon? This is on top of The Kin Club opening (or it might already be open) along Church Road on the site of the doomed Captain Correllis Card Club and my twitter friends tell me Hove Kitchen had their opening night this week(not sure if this is strictly in Hove !). I’ve been chuffed to bits recently that someone has at last done something with the hellhole that was the Portland and transformed it (and Portland Road !) into the delightful Stoneham. We went there last Friday night and the atmosphere and decor are all fantastic. As my son said ‘mummy they do pizzas like in Italy’. I have heard that it is owned by the same people who transformed The Connaught in Hove St last year. Long may this smartening up continue. I’ve always preferred Hove to Brighton, actually.
